Narcissi Madisha designs childrens’ wear for youngsters between two and 12 under the brand name Kameo Kids.

She studied at the Tshwane University of Technology and graduated in 2001.

Describing her style as playful, colourful, magical, fairy tale and whimsical, she says she is inspired by fantasy and wants her designs to take children to places like Wonderland and Neverland.

Her favourite designs are her multi colour tutu dresses. Her favourite designer is Zarth and the local celebrities that she would most like to dress are Khanyi Dlomo and her daughter and Nokthula Luthuli and her son.
She says both of these women are inspirational, classic and timeless. The international celebrity on her must dress list is Beyonce – and her daughter Blue Ivy. Beyonce, she says, combines fashion and femininity.

Narcissi describes herself as passionate, driven, disciplined, creative and a hard worker. Her work reflects her personal taste and she and her daughters wear her creations.

Right now, she says, there are many different prints and trends influencing fashion – from African prints to boho, gypsy, polka dots and stripes. She describes her designs as timeless. Prints are selected depending on the style and her state of mind.

A crusader for women’s empowerment, Narcissi’s dream is to run a factory employing a number of women as well as running a chain of stores. She would like to export both fabric and finished garments under the Kameo Kids brand.
