The technical programme focuses on:
Concept development,
Designing a collection,
Illustrations,
Fabrication,
Preparation and presentation of the professional portfolio,
Pattern making and grading

The business programme focuses on
Pricing and costing,
Retailing,
Preparing a business profile,
Bookkeeping,
Business Management
Branding and marketing

The designers are also invited to inspirational tours and talks where various established creatives share their journey and how they have been able to succeed and sustain their brands.

The programme also prepares the designers for the annual Durban Fashion Fair, where they are given an opportunity to showcased their creative to the buyers and fashion media. They get a anopportunity to work with various professional in displaying their talent. They share a chance to share the platform with extablished designers that have a made names for themselves in the local and international fashion industry.

The designers have to conceptualize the concept and create patterns and construct garments that will be showcased at the DFF, each designers is requested to collection that will demonstrate their brand identity and that will appeal to a specific target that they want to tap in the industry.
