Invitation to Participate in the Fashion Mentorship Programme

Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit invites fashion designers, and fashion houses within eThekwini Municipality to be part of a 10 months Fashion Mentorship Programme. The programme aims to capacitate and empower local fashion designers, facilitate market opportunities and network opportunities in order to ensure growth and sustainability of their fashion businesses.

The program will consist of 4 pillars:

• Business Development workshops: – Cost & Pricing; – Quality Control
• 4-day Durban Fashion Fair: Fashion Shows; Fashion Industry Workshop; Pop-up Shop
• Participation on the Fashion Pavilion during the Durban Business Fair;
• Participation on the access to markets opportunities

Interested fashion designers and/or fashion houses are to forward the following information by no later than Thursday 15/12/2016 between 8am – 4pm
 Company Profile
 Individual Profile/CV. Attach copies of Matric Certificate / Diploma / Degree certificate/s
 Certified copy of ID
 Letter of Motivation – why you should be selected for this program; your future fashion business prospects
 Professional Portfolios – showing clothing range you’re currently working on or have worked on for the past 12 months
 Proof of residents

DFF Recognition Awards

DFF will host Fashion Recognition Awards with Basetsana Kumalo and Somizi Mhlongo, awarding top achievers and honouring the longevity and ongoing contribution by our legends and business leaders. Pop Up Shops

Be fashionable and visit DFF Pop Up Shops during the fashion fair weekend. Designers from across the continent will be showcasing and selling their products. Fashion Show

The fashion shows will feature over 40 designers including 6 from Africa and big names within the South African Fashion Industry. 16 shows will take place from Wednesday, 31 August 2016 to the Saturday, 03 September at Durban Exhibition Centre. Industry Workshops

Durban Fashion Fair Networking Session themed Fashion Beyond Threads facilitated by Jeremy Maggs will cover industry topics such as Passion for Fashion to Sustainable Business: Branding and Personal Branding within the fashion environment.
